But it wasn't all pleasure at this gathering as some business was conducted with the release of the 2007-2008 program of activities and registration by members for tournaments and leagues that will get underway in the next few weeks.
Come one, come allFor those interested in more hands-on information concerning the Laval Curling Club, officials organized a two-day Open House, the second of which is today, Sunday, September 23.
The doors will be open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to welcome families, groups of friends or individuals who can get some orientation from club volunteers on the rules of the game, and the basic techniques of rock delivery and sweeping. Visitors are encouraged to dress for the occasion with suitable clothing (sport togs, light winter boots and light overcoats) and gloves. Admission is free.
As well, the club will open its doors in the evenings from September 24 to the 28, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, for free try-outs and for those who would like to start curling. Participation in these sessions is also free. During the week, it is advisable to reserve some ice time by calling (450) 627-4791.
The opening tournament of the Laval Curling Club, scheduled for October 1 to 5, will launch the 2007-2008 season, to be followed by the regular agenda of recreational leagues and competition which start on October 8 and run until April of next year. A season’s membership in the club costs $200 (+ taxes) for adults, $80 (+ taxes) for students and $40 (tax included) for juniors (18 and under).
