ANNIE is on her way to Laval Junior High School
Looking for Daddy Warbucks, we presume!
With summer just a breath away, local schools have stepped up their April-May-June calendars to bring an exciting end to social-cultural-sports activities and programs which are a big part of the motivation that not only keeps young people in school but also encourages them to try and reach for greater academic heights.
Fresh from the phenomenal artistic and financial success of Laval Liberty High School's production of 'Guys and Dolls' in late April, both of Laval's Junior high schools are staging productions of their own this coming week.
Sharing the theatrical spotlight with Mother Teresa's 'LOST IN OZ', will be Laval Junior High School's own version of 'ANNIEjr', based on the 'Little Orphan Annie' classic that spawned both the Broadway musical and two successful motion pictures. The production will emphasize the 'jr.' flavour of the renowned story, adapted for performers of junior high school age.
The cast and crew of ANNIEjr. will hit the spotlight this coming Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11, with the curtain rising at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.
"Come and share our talented young people's joy of singing, dancing, and comedy within the backdrop of a wonderful story. We guarantee you'll get more than your money's worth watching these young free spirits strutting their best and most charming stuff on stage," says Laval Junior High principal Anne Cohen.
True enough you'll be captivated by these wonderfully (and refreshingly) capricious young performers. And you'll not only have a great time, you'll also be helping raise much-needed funds for some exciting social-cultural-sports activities the school has planned for next year.
Laval Junior High School, administered by the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, is located at 3200 Souvenir West, in Chomedey, Laval, just a short walk east of city hall.
