Once again, the Courrier Laval team took its share of awards at the Transcontinental Folios, held last week.
Presented under the theme of the Academy Awards, the FolioOscars 2006 attracted 700 to the Palace in Laval. This annual event recognizes the work of employees of Transcontinental Media's Quebec-Ontario Group, numbering 70 newspapers. At the awards, two members of the Courrier Laval newsroom distinguished themselves by winning major prizes.
For his article on 'La Ville brise avec sa tradition de transparence' (Ville Laval breaks with its tradiiton of transparency), business and economy editor Stéphane St-Amour won a 'Plume d'or' in the news category. Nathalie Villeneuve took home her own 'Plume d'or' for a report on 'Le bingo, un monde' (Bingo, a world its own) published in Cités nouvelles, the West Island weekly for which she was writing at the time.

www.courrierlaval.comIn the advertising category, Josée Fafard, director of sales for les Éditions de quartier, and Jocelyne Noël, internal representative, took first prize in the $450,000 Plus Sales competition.
The Graphics Department, Innograf Laval, also made off with major prizes, winning in no less than three categories: Advertisement of the Year – External, Cumulative Advertising, and a second-place finish in 'Shop of the Year'.
