Ashley Abramovitch, Miss Teen Quebec and delegate to Miss Teen Canada International pageant needs your help
Ashley Abramovitch, Miss Teen Quebec and one of 35 finalists for the 2008 Miss Teen Canada International Scholarship Achievement Program, needs some help from the community-at-large to meet the $3500 Community Involvement Requirement set by the Miss Teen Canada International organization.
"Although our delegates are selected partly on the basis of personality, intellect, ability to communicate with people, and public speaking, we also look for young women who have a passion and desire to help others," Miss Teen Canada International spokesperson Sylvia Stark told Courrier Laval Weekly News in a telephone statement. "But above all, we ask delegates to be role models for the youth of today, and as such we require that each of them choose a national charity platform to assist and promote," Mrs. Stark added.
"I chose the Starlight Children's Foundation of Canada as my national charity platform because their mission is very close to my heart," Ashley told Courrier Laval Weekly News. "On a recent visit to the Montreal Children's Hospital, I was deeply moved by the number of sick children who could have used a lot more attention than they were getting. The hospital staff just can't do it alone. More volunteers are needed. And I think that through the Starlight Children's Foundation of Canada I can try to make a difference in their lives and those of other sick children in other places."
But to do this, Ashley needs a little more help from the community. "I've managed to collect most of the $3500 needed for the community-reach-out part of the pageant, but I'm still a bit short," Ashley explains, noting that she has until July 30th to raise the rest of the funds.
So far, the following have made contributions to Ashley's fund-raising:
Alisha Fabrics - $500; Passion Soccer - $500; Musi Furs - $500; ADLI Productions - $100; Crown Textiles - $100; Dimitri Flowers - $100; International Woolstock Co. - $100; Summex - $100; Lloydies - $100 Rosanna Alfieri - $20; Bridal Lane International – gala dress and gloves; Masi Jeans – clothing.
Anyone interested in contributing to Ashley's fund-raising efforts can contact Courrier Laval Weekly News, at (450) 667-4360, ext. 288, for further information.
