(N.V.) After a rather timid attempt last year, Laval will be taking 'Car-Less Thursday' a little more seriously this time as the Centropolis will be transformed into a mecca of activities.
As of lunch hour, all cars will be banned from Pierre-Péladeau Avenue with only cyclists and pedestrians allowed access to the site.
The STL, Laval's Public Transit Corporation has joined the venture, offering free public transit throughout the island, a good opportunity for new users to try out the system.
"The day will allow everyone to find out that one can travel in Laval – to school, to work, to friends, to shopping centres and movies theatres – without having to get into a car," says STL spokesperson Pierre Giard.
At the Centropolis, visitors (on foot and bikes) can enjoy information and presentations on all sorts of environmental initiatives. In the evening the Colossus Movie Complex will screen two free films.
