One young woman's reasons for celebrating Thanksgiving Day
Leaves of every hue of yellow and red, the smell of turkey wafting from the oven, treasured times spent with family and friends.
These all evoke memories of Thanksgiving for many. When I think of Thanksgiving, I am reminded of the many blessings God has given me. When I was little, my mom taught me to memorize Psalm 100 around the time of Thanksgiving, and I associate the holiday with the last two verses in the Psalm: “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him, and bless His Name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His Truth endureth to all generations.”
Close, so very close to home
As we harvest the vegetables grown in our backyard over the summer, I am thankful that we had a good growing season this year.
I am also thankful that we have the space and the time to plant and raise these crops. As I reflect on this year, I am very grateful to have my grandparents living within a few minutes walk of my house. They moved in a little less than a year ago, and they are such a blessing and a joy to help, care for, and spend time with. We are very blessed to have them with us. They are in their mid-eighties and healthy enough to enjoy many of the joyous treasures of God's universe and of His generous love.

“For the Lord is good and His mercy is everlasting.” He is good. He provided my dad with a job this past year in His perfect timing.
Simple truths
With all due respect and utmost consideration for your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, I would invite those of you who feel that you have nothing to be grateful for to look around and think for just a precious moment. Is there not something you can see to be thankful for?

Well, let me suggest. If you are able to read this you can be thankful for the gifts of life and breath, for the realization that many people loved you enough to make you literate, and that you are not blind.

I hope and pray that you will reflect on what you have been blessed with, and give thanks during this significant day in eternity. Happy Thanksgiving!
