Next week, environmentalist and Équiterre spokesperson Steven Guilbeault will be joining our ranks as a feature columnist for Courrier Laval Bilingual Edition, which is part of the Quebec and Ontario Transcontinental Newspaper Group, along with 67 other weekly newspapers.
A leading figure in all matters pertaining to the environment, Steven Guilbeault will be writing a column every two weeks, and readers will be invited to react to and comment on his views.

“It’s very important to educate people,” he explained. “You have to talk about the problems, but also about the solutions. It’s not enough to criticize and oppose; you have to provide citizens, businesses, organizations and government with solutions,” Guilbeault added. That being said, he believes that the environment poses serious challenges, but that it also offers interesting opportunities.

“We can change the world one action at a time; and every action counts,” he stated.

Guilbeault considers the weekly newspaper a great forum to reach millions of people across Quebec. His column will tackle major issues like climate change and global warming. His goal is to make the column an environmental guidebook for everyday use.

In addition, Steven Guilbeault has had the opportunity to travel around the world and now wants to share his experience with readers.

According to the General Manager of the Quebec and Ontario Transcontinental Newspaper Group, Serge Lemieux, the environment is the top priority for citizens today. Given that weeklies are rooted in their respective communities, it is only fitting that they deal with environmental matters; and Steven Guilbeault is arguably the best person for the job.

Mr. Lemieux also expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation agreement concluded between the renowned environmentalist and the Transcontinental Newspaper Group.
