The activities are many and varied at the Chomedey Seniors Club, one of Laval’s oldest-running community groups serving the social, cultural, health and information needs of people 50 and up. And you can expect lots of this kind of great fun at the Gala Chanukah Luncheon of December 6.

Chomedey Seniors Club ends year in fine style
Chanukah Luncheon, health care, and a movie matinee
It’s been a wonderful few months, and they’re expecting more of the same not only for December but also for the rest of the 2007-2008 program of activities of the Chomedey Seniors Club.
Program chairperson Toby Banks cited in the particular the turn-out of more than 40 members at the late November meeting held while a snow storm was raging, to indicate that there’s lots of and some great times at one of Chomedey’s oldest community groups.
“It was fantastic, seeing all those people come for the meeting. It shows that they like what we do and they enjoy spending time with old and new friends,” Mrs. Banks added.
December highlights
Despite the many activities that compete for people’s attention at this busy time of the year, Mrs. Banks thinks that the December program of activities will bring out the members to enjoy a party, a workshop on helping seniors sleep better and a movie afternoon to lay back and drift into some dreamy entertainment.
The holiday agenda kicks off with a Gala Chanukah Luncheon this coming Thursday, December 6, with dancing and listening music provided by the irrepressible Yaacov Sassi, a talented entertainer who’s reputation for spicing up a party is legendary.
Please note that this gathering starts at 12:30 pm, an hour earlier than the usual 1:30 start.
(More time to party!)
On Thursday, December 13, the discussion will turn to health and what can be done to help seniors cope with sleep disorders. Dr. Eva Libman will share with members her expertise on problems and solutions linked to sleep disorders in older people.
This meeting starts at the regular 1:30 pm opening, at which time it is hoped that club president David Beiner shares one of the many lighthearted stories he has in his vast repertoire.
December activities come to an easy end with a movie afternoon on December 20. No meeting will be held on the last Thursday of the month, December 27.
Meetings of the Chomedey Seniors Club take place at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth, in Chomedey, just a short walk north of Notre Dame Blvd.
New members are always welcome. For more information, please contact Toby Banks, at (450) 688-7020.
