Babies of the Year 2008
Aren't I just the cutest!? Meet the sweetly mischievous Charlotte Julia Calderwood, affectionately called CC, the daughter of Danika Juliano and Robert Calderwood. CC and many other babies born to Laval families in 2007 will be featured in Courrier Laval Bilingual Edition's Babies of the Year Special Edition of Sunday, January 28, 2008. (Photo: Courrier Laval)

Introduce your newborn to the community, a statement that will be treasured forever
What a Wonderful World, sang Louis (Satchmo) Armstrong, in the classic song which was part of the soundtrack that accompanied the agonizing film, Good Morning Viet Nam.

Ironic, perhaps, but I rather think of it as a statement of hope in the future, an enunciation that despite the challenges of life and the unbearable suffering that plagues far too many members of the human family, life is not only worth living it is the primordial reality of the unfolding of the universe.

But as vast as the universe must be, it's simple meaning can be quickly captured in the first breath of a newborn outside the womb, as the mother and father hold the fragile life in their arms, gazing into eternity through the mirror of the eyes and the strength of the soul of this manifestation of God's love for humanity.
Fifth annual celebration
This coming January, 2008, marks the fifth anniversary of the Babies of the Year special edition launched by Courrier Laval English Edition in 2004. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response for that first edition of the Babies of the Year feature, we reprised the offering in 2005, 2006, and 2007, counting about 150 newborns in our Newborn Wall of Fame since that initial presentation in 2004.
Firm in the belief that a 'gift' of this nature is an appropriate way to welcome newborns into the human family, we are once again, for 2008 inviting all Laval families blessed with newborns in 2007 to share their joy and glad tidings with the Laval community. The 2008 Babies of the Year feature will be the first under our new Courrier Laval Bilingual Edition format. As in past years, there is no charge to participating families.

Send us your newborn's full name, picture, and date of birth, along with the names of siblings, parents, grandparents, and great grandparents before Tuesday, January 23, 2008, and we'll share your good news with the world in our fifth annual Babies of the Year Feature, to be published Sunday, January 28, 2008. Please also provide a daytime telephone number for verification and information purposes.
