Black History Month Canadian-Caribbean Breakfast-Brunch
As Black History Month 2008 fast approaches, Althea J-C Seaman of the Laval Black Community Association confirms that one of the early events to launch the annual celebration will take place Saturday, February 2, from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm at Royal Canadian Legion (Chomedey) Branch 251, situated at 2000 Curé-Labelle Blvd., in Chomedey, just a short distance north of Saint-Martin Blvd.
"This Breakfast-Brunch to celebrate Canadian-Caribbean culture, will be spiced up with delectable culinary delights from the islands," says Mrs. Seaman, who adds that the proceeds will be allocated for the support of Black History Month activities. The day can be enjoyed for an affordable $10 for adults and $5 for children under 8 years of age.
More to come
"We've planned a full program of cultural adventures for the month, ranging from art exhibits to showcasing children's talent, all in an effort to share and exchange the best our different groups have to offer one another," Mrs. Seaman explains.
The primary force behind Black History Month is the Laval Black Community Association, resurrected by Mrs. Seaman five years ago, a group over which she now presides.

"Once again, in 2008, we are working closely with our French colleagues, the Coumbite Centre of Laval and its director, Josferé Michel, in the preparation and unfolding of this year's celebration," Mrs. Seaman adds, specifying that more activities will be taking place in more places on Laval island throughout the month.
