Across the generations! A Legion veteran shares a few precious minutes with a youngster at Twin Oaks Elementary School as he pins a Poppy on the young man's shirt. A newspaper, a community and a nation in support of veterans
On behalf of the Canadian Legion Chomedey Branch 251, I wish everyone a Happy New Year and trust that the holidays were joyous. The support of Courrier Laval throughout the year and support of the community during our annual Poppy Campaign in November was tremendous and shows us that we as a community and a nation are dedicated to, and supportive of, the well being of our veterans who have sacrificed so much for the preservation of our freedom and democracy.

For many veterans, the holidays were not a joyous time spent with family and friends as thousands of Canadian military currently serving abroad on active service overseas on operational missions restoring peace and renewing hope in places like Bosnia, Afghanistan and the Middle East, could not be with their loved ones over the holidays. Many older veterans, scarred from war are without families or separated from them. We also remember those who have been killed in active service and their families. The Canadian Legion is here to help serve these veterans, both young and old and give support to families of veterans, where possible, throughout the year.

As we embark on a new year with renewed hopes for tomorrow, we ask you to join us and be a part of the Legion community. Through your membership, friendships are made, community support is created and assisting in the needs of Veterans and their families grows. Membership is open to everyone over the legal voting age who supports our democratic values and traditions. We need your support and in doing so, you will become a vital part of our Legion family.

So if you would like to assist our veterans and support your community and if you’re interested in social events, pool, darts, cards, music, dancing or just a leisure beverage with friends, we would welcome your presence. Our weekly Sunday Dinner Dances are quite popular with a good selection of food each week, a variety of live entertainment to please all ages and at a great price of only $6. This event and others like it is the Legion's way of saying thank you to the community.

Kindly show your continued support for our veterans by supporting the Canadian Legion. Applications are available at our Branch, 2000 Labelle Blvd., Chomedey, just north of Saint-Martin Boulevard, west side. Drop in for a visit or call us at (450) 681-6722.

May your year be filled with Peace in your heart, Love of family and friends, Faith to guide you and Hope to carry you through each day! Sincerely Yours,
