Pomerleau will build Laval’s ‘City of Knowledge’
Extensive experience and expertise in construction of university infrastructures
The private partner retained by the Corporation de la Cité du savoir to build the University of Montreal Pavilion in Laval, is the Pomerleau Group.
The company, in business for the past 40 years, has solid expertise in the management of construction projects, proof of which is work done in the past ten years totaling over $ 1 billion.
Other projects
A major player in numerous accomplishments in university infrastructures, Pomerleau is presently under contract for expansion work at several universities, among which are Sherbrooke and Laval, indicates Pierre Luc Dumas, the company’s vice-president, projects division. One of the contracts relates to Laval University’s Ferdinand-Vandry Pavilion, a $52 Million project expected to be completed before year’s end, the other a building which will house Sherbrooke University’s Longueuil Campus. Evaluated at $120 Million, the 39,000 square-meter facility which will be linked to the Longueuil Metro Station, confirms the rooting of Sherbrooke University in the Montérégie and Greater Montreal regions.
Similarly, the Corporation de la Cité du savoir project implies a major expansion of the Univerity of Montreal into Laval. The Laval project, estimated at $50 million, includes the underground link to Montmorency Metro Station and the re-development of the Place du Carillon Promenade along de l’Avenir Boulevard.
Of recent note, Pomerleau’s finished projects in university infrastructures include the $164 Million Pierre-Dansereau Sciences Complex of the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM) completed in 2006, and the Desmarais Pavilion, a $52 Million facility handed over to the University of Ottawa last year.
