The Laval Black Community Association, guided by the able hand of Althea J-C Seaman, its current president and chief organizer, will cap off 2008 Black History Month with a closing celebration that will have something for everyone who'll take the time to drop in.
"This is our 5th annual February gathering, and we're proud to say that each of the past four years year has brought us closer and closer to a celebration we think does honour to the spirit and mission of Black History Month, a major happening that attracts attention all over North America year after year," Mrs. Seaman told Courrier Laval late last week.
The community responds
"And year after year, we are very pleased with the kind of response our efforts generate at all levels of Laval society, including political, community, religious, and business leaders, as well as government representatives in our city," Mrs. Seaman added.
The main event of Black History Month in Laval - the Closing Celebration – will take place this coming Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Pavillon Boisé Papineau, 3235 Saint-Martin Blvd. East, from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Admission is free, but reservations are required. "Come join us, you'll be truly delighted with the evening we have planned for you," Mrs. Seaman invites, confirming that in addition to entertainment, edification, sharing, and exchanging – you'll enjoy lots of delectable refreshments.

Black History Month is a joint venture of the Laval Black Community Association and the Centre communautaire Coumbite de Laval, the organization's French counterpart in the east end of the city.
