Shalom and Welcome!
We invite all the community-at-large to join the Jewish Community of Laval this coming Sunday, March 16, 2008, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Or Sepharade Synagogue, 4860 Notre Dame Blvd, in celebration of the holiday of Purim.
The children will have lots of fun things to do as they'll be able to enjoy activities revolving around 20 carnival booths. Activities for the young ones (and others, of course), will include face painting, a juggling show, and lots of great music.
Holiday presents will be distributed to every child. Refreshments (plenty of hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks) will be available for everyone throughout the day. Admission is only $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.
For more information, please call Rabbi Zalmen Stiefel (514) 758-7700 or Armand Nathan (514) 963-7130.
In advance of this gathering which promises to be a day of wonderful family fun, and on behalf of the Jewish Community of Laval, I would like to thank anyone and everyone who'll take the time to join us in friendship and sharing on this important Jewish Holiday.

Editor's note: Purim is the happiest and most festive of Jewish celebrations, a holiday that has particular significance for children because it is full of optimism, positive energy and hope for the future. Gifts, prizes, noisemakers and costumes are among the many treats offered young ones (and others, of course) on this holiday which commemorates the major victory over oppression engineered by Esther when she saved Persian Jews from an imminent massacre.
Told in the Megillah, the scroll of the story of Esther, Purim takes place on the 14th and 15th days of Adar, the 12th month of the Jewish calendar. This year, Purim begins at sundown, March 19.
