The ladies and gentlemen of the Gevurah Club of Chomedey, one of the city's longest-serving group for seniors, meet every Tuesday, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth. "We have great fun, with cards, bingo, visiting speakers and of course, delicious refreshments. Tuesday mornings. A new Beginners Class starts at 9:00 followed by the regular class at 10:00 to 11:30. This mentally and physically stimulating activity is for all (men too!) - no previous experience necessary. Experienced and dedicated teachers lead the way. Sunday classes at the Centre du Sablon, 10:00am - 12:00 noon. Jewish children learn about their heritage and traditions. On different age-appropriate levels, the children learn to read and write Hebrew, enjoy arts and crafts and many other activities too numerous to mention. Black History Month Celebration, with its great success, happens once each year, but, Laval Black Community Association is continuous and welcomes new members regularly. The association caters to its members in ways that are economic through employment programs that work in collectivity and socially through activities that benefit everyone, especially the young and senior people. Next meeting of the JWIC (Chomedey Chapter) will take place on Monday, April 7th, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Young Israel Synagogue of Chomedey, 1025 Elisabeth St. where our guest speaker will be owner and pharmacist Nermine Wanis of Pharmaprix Ste. Dorothée who will speak on skin care and prescription drugs. Friendly visits: Thanks to our generous volunteers, the centre offers friendly visits to those living alone. Offer a few hours a week and join our team!
