The season of traffic bottlenecks is here
Traffic snarled on Laval autoroutes
Major raod work on Autoroute 13 has already produced headaches for Laval motorists whose choice now is to either grin and bear it or resort to public transit.
Although the repair work is not being done on the Île Jésus side of Autoroute 13, the inconveniences have nonetheless been felt on the part of the autoroute which courses through Laval, as well as on Autoroute 15, the alternative for many motorists.

The source of the problem: the rebuilding of the saouthward road surface of the Chomedey Autoroute (13) between Louis-Bisson Bridge (which links Laval to Montreal) and Autoroute 40. The work will go on for several months, with completion expected in December of 2008.
Arthur-Sauvé Bridge
Another work project will soon get underway on the Arthur-Sauvé Bridge which links Laval to Saint-Eustache. This impediment will draw more motorists to Highways 13 and 15.
In the past few weeks, preparatory work has been done on cables and drains in the first phase of this repair work which won't be completed until 2010. The work involves a total resurfacing of the roadbed, with full speed ahead by the end of May. Only a single lane will be shut off to traffic. Provisions will be made to ease the congestion at morning and afternoon rush hours.
Regular train service
In an effort to lessen the impact of these delays, the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (AMT) will maintain regular train schedules on its Deux-Montagnes and Blainville-Saint-Jérôme runs, rather than reduce service by 20% at the end of May, as is the policy during normal times.
