Audrey Boisvert
The candidate
Challenger to Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt in 2005, Audrey Boisvert is in the political arena again, this time behind two leaders, Françoise David and Amir Khadir. Why come back at 21? "Because my values and those of Québec Solidaire are similar! If the party had not existed, I probably would have created it myself with some friends! I share the party's views on environmental protection, food-production autonomy, public transit, and labeling of genetically-modified foods." Native of Vimont, Ms. Boisvert is studying social work at the U of M.. "I'm very sensitive to the problems of the less fortunate, people who face the challenges of poverty and single-parent families."
What are the issues in the riding?
Audrey Boisvert is familiar with community action. As a soccer referee, she learned to listen, explain, and communicate. "As well, the Cegep strikes of 2005 woke me up to issues in society. I slept in the Cegep for ten days. I was fascinated by the general mobilization, and I exchanged ideas with others." It would take a miracle to get elected, so she intends to complete her studies and then travel. "I would like to travel, for at least five years, and visit model socialist countries such as Sweden and Denmark, and exchange ideas with people. I don't know the truth yet! So I would exchange ideas! I want to broaden my openness to the world." If she were to win December 8, what would be her first commitment? "Listen to the people!"
