The candidate
Born in Sainte-Rose, the Liberal Party of Quebec candidate in the riding of Vimont, Vincent Auclair, is married and the father of two children. He was first elected in 2003, and reelected in 2007. When the election was called last Nov. 5, Mr. Auclair was parliamentary assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Municipal Affairs and Regions, vice-president of the Public Administration Commission, member of the Land Management and Development Commission and of the Commission on Education. Notary and legal advisor, Vincent Auclair has also taught and given conferences for the Insitut québécois de planification financière (Quebec Institute for Financial Planning), and served as president of the Centre de bénévolat de Laval (Laval Volunteer Centre).
What are the issues in the riding?
The incumbent MNA lists as priorities the building of synthetic fields for sports associations and teams (Monteuil, Patriotes) and the renovation of three arenas in the riding (Lucerne, Mike-Bossy, Dagenais). It is public knowledge that Lucerne Arena had to shut down last summer. New installation of outdoor rinks, at a cost of $450,000 should be in place for the winter. Mr. Auclair promises to continue to support family events held in collaboration with community organizations, such as at Parc Lausanne, in Champfleury or in Vieux-Sainte-Rose. In Health, Mr. Auclair says he'll do his utmost to help improve services.
