Alice's Wonderland:New twist to Lewis Carroll's classic
"Alice's Wonderland is a one-of-a-kind show, simply because we've written it," says producer/director/drama instructor Stephanie Pitsiladis, of Laval Liberty High School, whose Theatre Arts Concentration class will soon be lighting up the stage in a three-night run of an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic Alice In Wonderland
"This is a very different adaptation of Carroll's classic story. It deals with one of the many problems adolescents face in this day in age, divorce," Ms. Pitisladis explains.
The story
As the Laval Liberty High School Theatre Concentration Program students tell it, their story goes something like this: The main character, Alice, is sent away to live with her aunt and uncle over the summer. Her parents are having problems with their marriage, and don't want to involve her with the messy process of trying to fix it. While living at her
aunt's house, Alice makes up wonderfully colorful characters to help her forget about her real troubles. Of course, that won't last forever and she'll have to face her problems eventually.
The student-produced strict for Alice's Wonderland benefited from Ms. Pitsiladis's substantial input, but she emphasizes that the essence and substance of the young people's ideas were fully respected.
"With professional lights, sound, costume and set, you are sure to be swept away to the eccentric world of Wonderland filled with outrageous, colourful characters!" says Ms. Pitsiladis, adding that the entire cast and crew is hoping to leave everyone speechless with the beautiful set and all the special effects brought in to razzle and dazzle the audience! "This semi-realistic, semi-fantastic tale is sure to be awe-inspiring!" Ms. Pistiladis concludes.
Alice's Wonderland comes to the Laval Liberty High School stage this coming Thursday, December 4 (7:30 m), Friday, December 5, (7:30 pm), and Saturday, December 6 (2:00 pm).
