Lighting of Grand Menorah proceeds despite swirling snow and frigid temperatures

Undaunted by harsh weather conditions, Rabbi Zalmen Stiefel of Congregation Young Israel of Chomedey lights the Grand Menorah at a ceremony held this past Sunday afternoon, December 21, 2008 at Young Israel Synagogue. The blowing snow and cold temperatures did not deter dozens of participants and several special guests, including Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt, who turned up for the celebration. (J.F.)
