Bringing literature to children and children to literature
There are many ways and means by which to turn children ages 3 to 6 on to literature, and one of these is "just around the corner" at the Laval Multicultural Library.
"We had yet another great turnout for our last Story Hour, in which we read stories focusing on Easter rabbits and fun tales featuring animal characters," says Eleanor Tylbor, who together with Marilyn Silverman has been a major force behind this initiative to bring children to literature and literature to children. And it's never too early to start as the Story Hour program is open to children as young as three.
"We welcomed many new young bibliophiles and their siblings but there's always room for newcomers," Ellie adds. "In fact our next story hour is the perfect occasion for newbies to get involved in all the fun."
This next "Story Hour with Ellie and Marilyn" to take place on Saturday, April 14 at 10:15 a.m. at the Multicultural Library, will be a "Dora The Explorer Day" with stories and a special video focusing on the popular children's TV character and friends. Pre-registration is necessary and can be made by contacting the Library at (450) 978-5995. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The Library is located at 1535 Chomedey Blvd. in Chomedey.
