Another great year for Vipers soccer
Girls win gold, boys in championship game
It has been a great season for the Laval Junior High School Vipers soccer team. @R:We had a phenomenal year with an undefeated record of 5 wins and 1 tie. Every game we came out strong and brought out knowledge and skills taught us by our sports program and our coaches, Ryan Boutara, Shannon Rudolph, and Rick Hoyte.
Our new turf field has motivated us to do well and prove ourselves to be a team capable of winning. We are extremely thankful for these wonderful facilities.
We would like to thank the students, family, and friends that have supported us throughout the season. They have been there through every game, rain or shine, and have not stopped encouraging us all season. We would also like to thank our Principal Mrs. Ann Cohen and out Vice-Principal Mrs. Josée Yelle for giving the team the chance to represent the school in a positive way.
On Tuesday, October 23rd the boys played a quarter-final game against Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School. It was a hard fought game in which both teams played exceptionally well. We were able to come out ahead however, securing a spot for ourselves in the semi-finals, and keeping our undefeated record.
In the semis, we won an unbelievable match, in a 9-8 shoot-out over Vincent Massey.
Editor's note: Coach Mike Di Stefano's Laval Junior girls soccer Vipers won gold, defeating Berling Academy 1-0 in the championship game. The boys played in the championship game this past Saturday, October 27. As the game was past our press time, we will report on its outcome in next week's issue of Courrier Laval Weekly News.
