The ‘Readers Writes’
Starting next week, readers of the new bilingual edition of Courrier Laval are invited to express their views and opinions in a new regular feature we call ‘Readers Writes’.

While we have in the past six years published a number of letters from readers concerning matters of public interest, the letters to the editor (Readers Writes) section of the new bilingual edition of Courrier Laval will become a weekly feature, and a forum for commentary on the part of private citizens who wish to express themselves in print on various issues that relate to the life of the city, primarily, and society in general.

Please note that letters will be published only in the language in which they are written and will not be translated.

A letter sent to the French section will not be translated into English; similarly, a letter sent to the English section will not be translated into French.

All letters must be signed. No anonymous letters will published. Although the address of the letter writer will not be published, it must nevertheless accompany the letter.

Letters must also include a telephone number for the purpose of verification and authentication of authorship.

All letters must be received by Wednesday afternoon, 5:00 pm, to be considered for publication in the following Sunday edition.

The editorial board reserves the right to edit letters for purposes of clarity. Letters may also be condensed, without altering the essence of the piece. Letters may also be rejected. The Quebec Press Council stipulates that “all newspapers are responsible for the content of their letters to the editor section” and in view of this principle, the newspaper “has the right to exercise jurisdiction over the rules which govern what is put into public print.”

It must also be noted that the opinions expressed in letters are solely those of their authors and not of Courrier Laval.

Letters can be emailed to redactionlaval@transcontinental.ca, faxed to (450) 667-0845, c/o John Fasciano or Marie Eve Courchesne, or posted to Courrier Laval, Letters to the Editor, 189 Laval Avenue, Laval, Qc, HTN 3V8. Letters may also be delivered in person, Monday to Friday, during regular office hours, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.@BVMarie Eve Courchesne, Editor(Photo: Courrier Laval Files)
