Action scolaire de Laval wins both seats in the only two wards up for grabs in French school board
All 19 other seats decided by acclamation
On November 4, 2007, with the election of Robert André Alexandre and Danielle Gratton, Action scolaire de Laval swept all the seats that were open on the Commission scolaire de Laval's Council of Commissioners, a group that numbers 21 representatives in all.
Mr. Alexandre, the new commissioner for Saint-François district, took 43.73% of the vote, outdistancing Vladimir Letang (38.04%) and Christian Lajoie (18.23%). In L'Abord-à-Plouffe, Danielle Gratton earned 76.20%, more than tripling Linda Scalcos'
23.80% share.
The other 19 seats in Quebec's second largest school board were all decided by acclamation. For the two wards that held elections, the voter turnout was 5.23%, with 1,279 people exercising their right to vote.
The new commissioners will be sworn in at the November 14 Council of Commissioners meeting. The council chairperson will also be elected at this time. It's safe to say that Francine Charbonneau will once again occupy the council's chair as she is the leader of the Action scolaire de Laval.
