A few suggestions for your letters and comments
As announced last week, the Courrier Laval Bilingual Edition this week begins publication of a Readers' Writes section in which we welcome the views of readers on matters of interest and of public concern.

Although the free expression of people's views is encouraged, it is important that certain conditions be respected if letters and comments are to be considered for publication.

Please note that letters will be published only in the language in which they are written and will not be translated.

A letter sent to the French section will not be translated into English; similarly, a letter sent to the English section will not be translated into French.

All letters must be signed. No anonymous letters will be published. Although the address of the letter writer will not be published, it must nevertheless accompany the letter.

Letters must also include a telephone number for the purpose of verification and authentication of authorship.

All letters must be received by Wednesday afternoon, 5:00 pm, to be considered for publication in the following Sunday's edition.

The editorial board reserves the right to edit letters for purposes of clarity. Letters may also be condensed, without altering the essence of the piece. Letters may also be rejected. The Quebec Press Council stipulates that “all newspapers are responsible for the content of their letters to the editor section” and in view of this principle, the newspaper “has the right to exercise jurisdiction over the rules which govern what is put into public print.”

It must also be noted that the opinions expressed in letters are solely those of their authors and not of Courrier Laval.

Letters can be emailed to redactionlaval@transcontinental.ca, faxed to (450) 667-0845, c/o John Fasciano or Marie Eve Courchesne, or posted to Courrier Laval, Letters to the Editor, 189 Laval Avenue, Laval, Qc, HTN 3V8. Letters may also be delivered in person, Monday to Friday, during regular office hours, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
