Attraction in Action: The show may be the thing, but Laurier Senior High School's 2007 Show With Fashion – Attraction - could not come to life with such flair, vibrancy and class were it not for many community partners whose support is invaluable.

The Laurier Senior High School 2007 Show With Fashion: a public-private partnership which works
If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community of communities to give that child and many others the opportunities to develop skills and talents which will make of them better citizens and render the world a better place.
Such is the case with the Laurier Senior High School annual fashion show, with Attraction - the 2007 edition being no different.
"So many community partners to thank, and I hope to God I haven't forgotten anyone," the show's senior advisor Alan De Souza told Courrier Laval just this past week.
"I would have to start with the stores that have supported us throughout the last eight years, and these include Unique, Bedo, Parasuco, Groggy, Musi Furs, Masi Collection, Betsy Johnson, Rudsak, Briadalane, Club Uomo, Landes, HKR Collections, and La Senza.
In recent years, says Mr. De Souza, these fine stores have been joined by Covet, Elle Couture, Bench, Firetrap, Affliction, EKE, Gas, Manni, Genux and others.
"We also have other sponsors to thank – from Royal Ceramics to the Banks – dozens and dozens of businesses and institutions we are proud to feature in our full-colour Souvenir Program which cast, crew, and audiences cherish for many years after the show."
The dynamics of a project of this magnitude being what they are, Mr. De Souza and friends have also sought and obtained the support of other sources, among which they cite Discount Car and Truck Rentals who supply a van to facilitate driving students back and forth for fittings and the picking up of clothes from vendors. The van is also used to drive young people home from the occasional late-evening rehearsal.
"Mr. Vito Carrara: we hope we'll be able to enjoy your support for our work and consider your contribution to our fashion shows a true blessing. This is definitely a load off our shoulders," says Mr. De Souza's co-advisor, Dominic Di Stefano.
Also on the thank you list for helping to bring the 2007 Show With Fashion to the Laurier High School stage are Joe Manni (for his help in putting the Souvenir Program together), Mrs. Rosie Di Paolo and the Parent Participation Organization (for providing food and presence at weekend rehearsals), Patisserie St-Martin (who provided some of the food for the last weekend rehearsal before the show), and Mr. Sam Abramovitch for his generosity of time and energy in back-stage management and coordination of stage materials.
Quite a line-up of community partners, without whose support the 2007 Laurier Senior High School Show With Fashion would not be the quality production that discriminating audiences have come to expect.
