Sainte-Rose en Blanc Outdoor Hockey Tournament postponed
Rescheduled for festival's last weekend, February 16, 17
Due to unexpected warm weather, organizers of the Sainte-Rose en blanc winter festival had to reschedule the outdoor hockey tournament. It will now take place on the last two days of the winterfest, Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17.
The tournament, the first in the festival's four years, was slated to take place on the river, but the surface was not frozen over, thus the postponement became unavoidable. Hey all you Lavallois, let's say a prayer and invoke Mother Nature to cooperate this coming weekend so we can all come out and enjoy this great winter pastime, a throwback to earlier days when most of our hockey was played on outdoor rinks that dotted most of Quebec's neighbourhoods and communities. In your prayers, ask for some cold overnight temperatures so that the river surface can freeze over and hockey players and hockey lovers can enjoy the experience of some good old-fashioned outdoor shinny. We hope to see you there next weekend to celebrate hockey and other winter delights. (B.L.)
