Stoppons La Reforme says Laval teacher
The Education Reform Plan has met with intense resistance from many educators, numerous parents, and prominent people such as former Quebec Premier Bernard Landry who recently publicly lashed out against it as "A misguided initiative doomed to failure."
Stoppons La Reforme says Laval teacher
Where were all the Anglophone teachers and their unions (QPAT) on Saturday February 2nd, when our French colleagues were protesting against the reform?

It seems that the English are always complaining about being neglected on most matters in Quebec. Well here was an opportunity for Anglophone teachers to make known their concerns about this reform and instead only the Francophones are doing the complaining.

Unfortunately, our unions only seem to be preoccupied with striking for better salaries and working conditions, while nothing has been said about this reform which remains pedagogically unsound and totally confusing.

Could someone please wake up and smell the coffee? We should be concerned about how and what our students are learning in the classroom. We should be preparing our students to become more knowledgeable and more competitive in a world of increasing globalization.

Moreover, as a teacher, I do not believe that this reform will accomplish this because of the emphasis on competencies, which cannot be clearly evaluated.
