Raymonde Folco in Egypt

Laval Les Iles federal MP Raymonde Folco was in Egypt recently, with fellow MP Jim Karygiannis, to look into allegations of religious persecution. In November of 2007, members of the Coptic Communities of Montreal and Toronto approached the MPs to bring to their attention the absence of religious freedom in Egypt as well as to provide information concerning some cases of religious persecution. The two Canadian MPs met with counterparts (elected or appointed) from the Egyptian Parliament, with different groups advocating human rights and with some people specifically concerned in the matter. The two Canadian Parliamentarians will report their findings to their colleagues and to the Coptic Community. (G.F.)
