The Learning Exchange (TLE) brings children and literature together at Jules Verne Elementary School
Get hooked on books, read together as a family, says the invitation sent out to families with children of K to grade 2 age attending Jules Verne Elementary School of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board.
"It's a Family Literacy event and a celebration of the life-long enjoyment that books bring to us all," says TLE Communications Director Jackie Spector. What's on the program for this fun-filled book extravaganza for the younger set?

Under its theme of 'Let's get cozy', this evening of reading and fun activities promises to be full of wonderful surprises for parents and children. "Wear your pajamas and bring your favourite stuffed animal and/or 'blankie' … and that means everyone in the family!" specifies Mrs. Spector, adding her own magic touch of tender love and care to the invitation sent home with children of the Jules Verne School Community.
Let's read!
There'll certainly be no shortage of interesting and stimulating activities as the evening unfolds, including a 'bring your blanket' story-reading book tent, decorating and stamping personalized book marks, designing a story mural, helping to write and create a story, and lots of word games and puzzles.
Under its other theme of 'Let's Read', children are invited to bring a book to exchange for one they haven't read yet. There will be refreshments, lots of unannounced exciting special treats, and many prizes to take home. This family literacy party will take place tomorrow, Monday, May 5, starting at 6:30 pm.

Organized by The Learning Exchange (TLE) in partnership with the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board and Jules Verne Elementary School principal Carmela Sacco, the event is sponsored by the Merck Frosst Employees' Charity Trust Fund in support of TLE's Literacy Initiatives For Families Program. TLE can be reached at (450) 688-2933, ext. 3126.
