A much-appreciated symphonic feast

"It’s another way of having people discover classical and instrumental music, in a relaxed atmosphere, without pomp or circumstance. It’s also a nice occasion for musicians to enjoy the outdoors, to introduce the youngest to music, and for families to blend the tastes of music and the delights of their picnic baskets," said OSL artistic director and conductor Alain Trudel.

"There was conversation in the crowd, and I would have done the same if I were in the audience, but they listened too, especially when a particular piece grabbed their fancy. As for me, I’m very pleased when the security guard goes out of his way to come and tell me that he ‘truly enjoyed the music’. This closeness to the people of Laval is part of our mission, and it’s an aspect of our work that is very much appreciated by our musicians," he added, just before getting back to a little bit of rare summer gardening.

The OSL conductor has had very little time to pursue his gardening in recent weeks, what with having to honour all sorts of orchestral obligations and engagements, conducting different orchestras from one of the country to the other.
