Chomedey Chapter JWIC extends an open invitation to the entire community for its next event - guest speaker Dr. Victor Goldbloom. The topic is “Future Direction for the Jewish Community” and will be held on Wednesday, September 10, at 7:30 pm., at Congregation Shaar Shalom, 4880 Notre Dame Blvd. Cost is $7 per person. With its new and exciting program for September ready to kick off in a few weeks, anyone interested in participating in a stimulating and information afternoon in a warm and congenial atmosphere is invited to attend weekly meetings of the Chomedey Senior Club, Thursdays, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth Blvd. The September lineup, to which everyone is also welcome, is as follows: Thursday, September 11 - Greg Innes, singer and keyboard artist, one of the club’s favourite entertainers, will perform; Thursday, September 18 - Ruth Budovitch, stress management therapist, will speak about coping with insomnia; and, Thursday, September 25 - Roslyn Malin, a motivational speaker, will address the group on how You have the power to make it a great day. President and Chapter President Evie Applebee extends a warm welcome to everyone interested in attending their Opening Meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 10th, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The lunch meeting features longtime educator and motivational speaker, Rosyln Penn Malin, who will address the group on the topic of Happiness is a Choice. Malin taught for 17 years at the Montreal Children’s Theatre, held the role of National Leadership Chairman for Jewish Women International and work for 10 years as an educational professional for more than 1000 volunteers at the Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors. The Book Club is looking for new members. The club meets monthly (usually the third Wednesday) at the Bibliothèque Multiculturelle, 1535 Chomedey Blvd., to discuss books selected by the group. Membership is limited to people between the ages of 15 and 18, so discussion can be carried out in an informal, convivial atmosphere. Get ready for another fun-filled season of regular Monday meetings of the Laval Women’s Group. From line-dancing, Tai Chi classes, Bingo, to chats with new and old friends, the group’s regular meetings began Monday, September 8th, but some classes such as Tai Chi begin this week. Everyone is welcome to come for the day, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm, or just for a few hours, at the Campeau Centre, 3781 Levesque Blvd. Bring your own lunch, tea and coffee are provided on the house. STA:Cars and vans needed – Laval Volunteer Centre

Did you know the centre offers a home support service for Lavallers in need? And more, the medical transport and accompaniment service is available thanks to the generousity of volunteers who use their own vehicles. Due to a high demand for services, particularly for transportation, we are asking for your help to accompany people to hospitals in both Laval and Montreal. The goal of Junior Achievement Quebec is to initiate youth in secondary school to entrepreneurship. The organization is seeking volunteer advisors for the 26-week student business program.
