Chomedey Cummings Centre 50+
Andrew Carter of CJAD (pictured) launched the Centre's media series this past Monday, speaking to an enthusiastic crowd about the changing face of media, says spokesperson Claire Nudel. Series continues September 22, with Tarah Schwartz of CTV, who will speak on why people are inspired to go behind the lens. Chomedey Seniors Club
The new and exciting 2008-2009 Program is well underway. Anyone interested in participating in stimulating and information afternoons in a warm and congenial atmosphere is invited to attend weekly meetings, Thursdays, 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth Blvd. The September lineup is already in full swing, with Greg Innes, singer and keyboard artist, one of the club’s favourite entertainers, making a much-appreciated appearance this past Thursday, September 11. This coming Thursday, September 18 - stress management therapist Ruth Budovitch, will speak to members and friends about coping with insomnia; Thursday, September 25 – motivational speaker Roslyn Malin, will address the group on how You have the power to make it a great day. Laval Multicultural Library
The Book Club of the Laval Multicultural Library (1535 Chomedey Blvd.) has been engaging in very lively discussions for many years now and it is again welcoming new members. The Club usually meets the third Wednesday of each month. The first title on its list, for the first meeting of the Club’s Fall 08/Winter 09 session, will be Mitch Albom’s The First People You Meet in Heaven. Future titles to be discussed include: The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd, Cry the Beloved Country by Alan Paton, Small Island by Andrea Levy, and The Secret Life of Josephine by Carolly Erickson, among others. Laval Women's Group
