Meet Lester Percs, the affable, knowledgeable and articulate chaffeur-guide-commentator, pictured with friends of Chomedey Chapter JWIC just before departure for the group's recent visit to Quebec City. "Lester did a fabulous job throughout the day," says Rosalee Tuchow, who should know, since she was there. The group has planned a busy autumn schedule full of interesting actvities and projects. Health – physical, mental, and spiritual – without it, kiss any enjoyment of life good-bye.
Good thing too, that there are many community groups in Laval who take this principle of life to heart and do their utmost to provide expert insight into the many ways one can contribute to his or her own general health.

Are you feeling a little awkward these days about your inability to grasp things said to you the first time they're said, and have to ask people to 'Say that again, if you don't mind?'

Perhaps it's time to come to terms with certain realities, namely that people are not necessarily talking to you any different than what they've being doing for a long time, and it is that 'long time' that is at fault for your inability to register everything you hear in your daily interactions with the people around you.

"Here's an opportunity for you to enhance you knowledge of the dynamics of hearing and what you can do about hearing loss," says Rosalee Tuchow, spokesperson for Chomedey Chapter JWIC (Jewish Women International of Canada), referring to the group's next meeting, coming up September 22, at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue (1025 Elizabeth, Chomedey), starting at 1:30 pm.

"Sometimes we come to learn, as the years fly by, that our hearing is not as sharp as it once was, when we realize that the TV is now much louder than it used to be, and we ask ourselves for things to be repeated more frequently," Mrs. Tuchow explains.

"Are we losing our hearing?" she asks, by way of inviting everyone to the JWIC meeting, where, she adds, "You can come and find out!"
The 'Ears to You' presentation at Chomedey Chapter JWIC will take place Monday, September 22, at 1:30 pm, at the Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth, Chomedey. A representative from the McKay Centre of Montreal will share professional expertise and knowledge on the issue of hearing and hearing loss. Everybody is welcome. Refreshments served following the presentation. Admission: $5. For more information, Lily Percs at (450) 688-0026 or Sheila Kirstenberg at (450) 688-6324.
