Although election day is Tues. Oct. 14, other options are available. If for some reason you can't vote Oct. 14, you can vote Fri. Oct. 3, Sat. Oct. 4, or Mon. Oct. 6 – noon to 8:00 pm at a location specified on the
Voter Information Card received in the mail from Elections Canada. You may also vote by mail or in person at your local Elections Canada Office if you apply by 6:00 pm Tues. Oct. 7. You can download the form at
www.elections.ca or phone the Chief Returning Officer of your riding at the number listed below. If you need a language or sign language interpreter, or other special assistance, you must call before 6:00 pm, Thurs. Oct. 9. For the deaf or hard of hearing: ATS/TTY 1-800-361-8935. To be eligible to vote you must be a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years of age on election day. To vote, you must prove your identity and address in one of three ways:
Provide an original piece of identification issued by a government or government agency containing your photo, name and address. (E.g.: driver's licence)
Provide two original pieces of identification authorized by the Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. Both pieces must contain your name and one must also contain your address. (E.g.: health card and hydro bill)
Swear an oath and be vouched for by an elector who is on the list of electors in the same polling division and who has an acceptable piece or pieces of identification. (E.g.: neighbour, roommate)
