New municipal political party in the making
A new political party is about to emerge in Laval.
Behind this new party, to be known as Mouvement lavallois, stands a former candidate of the Parti au service du citoyen (PSC), David Decotis, who had agreed last summer to carry the banner of Robert Bordeleau's party in Saint-Bruno District.

Disappointed by his (former) leader, who he describes as lacking in transparency, Mr. Decotis left the PSC in a huff at the end of October.

Presently attempting to obtain official recognition for the Mouvement lavallois from the Director-General of Elections, Mr. Decotis claims he has already lined up seven candidates for the November elections. Among these is Valérie Leprohon, former PSC organizer responsible for communications. Mrs. Leprohon is slated to run in the Concorde-Bois-de-Boulogne District presently represented by Jean-Jacques Lapierre.

Mr. Decotis, who'll run in Saint-Bruno, will unveil his other candidates next month, at a press conference expected to officially mark the birth of his new party.

Taken by surprise by our telephone call, Mr. Decotis said he's in constant discussion with a well-known Laval businessman in an attempt to draft him as party leader.
Back to 1997
"As far as I know, there are only two political parties in Laval with official status, and only one in opposition," commented PSC leader Bordeleau, reducing the news of another political party to a level of "rumour mongering".

But in the face of the prospect of a third municipal party joining the campaign, Mr. Bordeleau could not help recalling that in the 1997 election the entry of a third party allowed incumbent mayor Gilles Vaillancourt's PRO des Lavallois to slip back into power with a popular vote of only 41%.

Mr. Di Salvio,

Thank -you for expressing your thoughts and sharing your kind words. I always knew that you had a deft act for politics.

Mouvement Lavallois is Laval`s true democratic opposition party. Our team of new and rising candidates is growing and we are committed to serve our communities.

Our mission is simple and straightforward:
Become the true eyes, ears and voice for all the citizens of the city Laval.

We understand the frustration that you and many other citizens of the city Laval go through everyday.
Poor snow removal service:
Lack of maintenance in our parks and sports facilities;
Lack of sports infrastructure;
Lack of a real public transportation roadmap;
Lack of public parking adjacent to our metros;
Much much more …

We will work to serve and listen to what you have to say.

Myself along with all of the Mouvement Lavallois party candidates, we will keep knocking on as many doors possible to get our message across.

On November 1st 2009 do something different!
Vote for a real change!
Vote for a true democracy!
Vote for Mouvement Lavallois (It starts with you …..)!

I remember seeing Mr. Decotis going door-to-door last summer. I would see him almost every weekend and most weeknights knocking on doors in the “Ferme Papineau” area of Vimont.

I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Decotis on 3 separate occasions. Mr. Decotis has a down to earth character who speaks his mind and honestly wants to change the political scenery in Laval. He is a no-nonsense type of guy. There is no hidden agenda behind his words. Simplicity and strong moral values is the energy that I receive from him.

He has my respect for having the courage, strength and will-power to keep on going and fighting the current administration.

I do not know much about the Mouvement lavallois party and their platform. However, I do know that Mr. Decotis is one Class Act to follow.

Therefore in Laval’s next Municipal Election, I will vote for Mr. Decotis and would urge everyone to do the same. If Mr. Decotis is the man behind Mouvement lavallois then that is all I need to know. We need new and young blood in city hall.
