March Break in Laval: education and recreation
Don't be surprised to see happy moments like this during March Break. March Break in Laval: education and recreation
March Break brings with it the annual search for creative activities to help children let off steam and stay constructively occupied.
To this end, there are plenty of enjoyable indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities throughout Laval.

Centre de la Nature has cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs, a skating rink, downhill skiing courses for children ages 5 to 8, and figure skating lessons by the Club de patinage artistique de Laval. The Rivière des Prairies Park has paths for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing worth exploring. During Break, many arenas offer special hours for free-skating and pick-up hockey, family style. Outdoor rinks have extended hours for chalet services, weather permitting. More hours are added for public swimming pools throughout Laval, bathing caps compulsory.

The Cosmodôme offers Route des Sciences in Laval municipal libraries, where children can explore the discovery of Mars, an astronaut's spacesuit, and the principles of rocket science and its evolution across the centuries. In libraries, children can also attend vermi-composting workshops.

Even children of working parents can enjoy interesting activities (arts and crafts, theatre, science projects) offered at day camps run by community organizations. In Vimont and Auteuil, children can sign up for a Rock Band Tournament, tubing on Mount Royal, a Sugar Shack dinner, and other activities.

In Laval-des-Rapides, Pont-Viau and Renaud-Coursol outings include day-camp activities, tobogganing, "magic" days and family visits to swimming pools.
For opening hours at arenas, parks, outdoor skating rinks, swimming pools, library activities, special outings and day camps on Laval island, consult the city website at www.ville.laval.qc.ca, contact 311, or call (450) 978-8000 (off-island).
