MNA Vincent Auclair named president of Laval Regional Caucus of Quebec Liberal Party.

Vimont MNA Vincent Auclair was appointed President of the Laval regional caucus of the Quebec Liberal Party, at the last meeting of the five Liberal MNAs representing Laval island in the Quebec National Assembly,

"This job has many challenges and I am touched by the confidence offered by my colleagues in selecting me to chair this important roundtable," said Mr. Auclair, in a press release issued at mid-week.

Meeting regularly, regional caucuses across the province discuss issues, problems and challenges specific to their region. The caucuses are described as the preferred forum for addressing the dossiers that are of greatest concern and which would benefit from an exchange of views among the (elected) members.

Stakeholders and agencies have a say

"The Caucus Chair prepares the agenda for each meeting and is responsible for leading, with rigour and fairness, the discussions and deliberations," explained the communiqué.

The role of the regional caucus is further defined as "the ideal forum for various agencies and stakeholders wishing to present development projects at the regional level. Since the Liberal caucus wishes to remain in touch with the expectations of its citizens, it makes every effort to be accessible, to listen and be present at all levels."

According to its stated functions, the regional caucus can also bring projects that have attained consensus to the party's general caucus, and follow their progress and achievement.

"We will be present throughout the region in order to know and understand the particular needs of our citizens," said Vincent Auclair, in his role as newly-named President. The other four members of the caucus (and their respective National Assembly seats) are Michelle Courchesne (Fabre), Guy Ouellette (Chomedey), Alain Paquet (Laval-des-Rapides), and Francine Charbonneau (Mille-Îles).
