Family tragedy in Laval-des-Rapides

Upon the arrival of emergency services and Laval police, the deaths of the man, a 57-year old taxi driver, and of the 38-year old woman, an employee of the Caisses Populaires Desjardins, were pronounced.

After sealing off the crime scene, police officers took charge of the couple’s other two children ,a 14-year old boy and a 10-year old girl, before proceeding to the police station and handing them over to family members.

On the morning of March 25, investigators, with the help of the law enforcement identification services confirmed the hypothesis of murder suicide perpetrated by the husband. An autopsy will be conducted in the following days and will provide more clues on the sequence of events.

Mr. Dumais states that the husband had to respect a restraining order handed down by the Court stating that he keep away from the family residence and his wife’s workplace. The individual did not reside in the family home since last December.
