JWIC Chomedey Chapter: committed to keeping the community informed
On May 4, Meaghan Williams, social worker from the Alzheimer’s Group, spoke to members and guests of Chomedey Chapter JWIC about symptoms of the disease and how it affects patients. Her informative talk outlined the progression of the disease and encouraged everyone to “keep doing crosswords and Sudoku and keep your brain active”.

Our Chomedey Chapter's next meeting will be held June 1, 1:00 pm, at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth, Chomedey.

We have a very interesting program to be presented by 2 speakers from Breast Cancer Action Montreal, a volunteer group featured in the Sunday May 10 edition of the Montreal Gazette.

The presenters are Myra Hayman & Maychar Brown. They will share valuable information on the dangerous chemicals, toxins and carcinogenics found in products we use every day. Everyone is invited and prospective members are always welcome. Info: Sheila 450-688-6324

Our chapter is committed to keeping the community informed, as we have demonstrated in the recent past with programs from the Laval CSSL, DOVE (Detecting Ovarian Cancer Early) and our Panel Discussion on Harmony in Our Community). As well we have taken part in JWIC’s May 4 Walk In Her Shoes event to raise money towards ending violence against women.

Apart from the many serious topics and issues we explore at meetings (the serious stuff), we do have fun…Our Ottawa bus trip is coming up with a visit to the Canadian Mint and the Casino (June 17). The bus is filling up so make your reservations by calling Rosalie, 450 681-5331 or Lily, 450 688-0026. Cost is $45 for members, $50 for others.

Our closing dinner will be held June 24, starting at 6:30 pm, at Casa Grecque, with entertainment by Natie Rabinovitch. We look forward to seeing current members, friends, and prospective members there.

For more information, Sheila 450 688-6324.

Maureen Lizee has $2056.96 in an unclaimed balance account at the bank of Canada. My wife is a Lizee and I just searched her name on the Bank of Canada unclaimed balances site and saw Maureen's name. Could you please let her know so she can check it out. John
