Encore for Stephanie Pitsiladis Summer Theatre Camp
Summer project expanded to two sessions
Following last summer's smashing success, the Stephanie Pitsiladis Theatre Camp returns in 2009 with an expanded program which covers two sessions: July 6 - 24, and August 10 – 28.
:"If you love being on stage, this is the experience for you," says founder and director Stephanie Pitsiladis, professional actress/singer and Theatre Concentration teacher at Laval Liberty High School.
"Our main goal is to teach campers performing skills while have lots of fun," Ms. Pitsiladis explains, adding that "Young people ages 12 to 17 are encouraged to come out of their shell and learn what wonderful performers they truly are."
The program
"There will be tons of new and exciting things to do, places to see and people to meet," promises Pitsiladis, citing among others the following activities: outings to shows, work on different acting techniques, experimenting with mask work, visits to casting directors, acting in front of a camera, and an end-of-camp show in front of family, friends and agents. @R:Chris Barillaro (professional actor/singer/musical director) will be musically directing the end-of-camp show, and making weekly visits to coach campers vocally. Dance instructors will also be making visits throughout camp to choreograph the end-of-camp show, and some of the best performers in Montreal will be making appearances with different skills to teach the aspiring performers.
“Theatre camp was probably the gateway that enabled me to become all that I knew I could be inside, that I was too afraid to show. The performance at the end of camp was an important experience that helped me to become confident in myself. And I’m coming back this year!” says Matthew Segal, a participant in last year's camp.
