In family and community: Chanukah celebrations at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue
Everyone invited to Chanukah Dinner (Dec. 12) and Family Festival (Dec. 13)
The eight days of Chanukah 2009, which begin Friday, December 11, will be marked in community and in family at two special events scheduled for Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13, both at Young Israel of Chomedey Synagogue, 1025 Elizabeth, just a short distance north of Notre Dame Blvd.
"Come celebrate with us, bring family and friends, you are most welcome," says Rabbi Zalmen Stiefel, one of the organizers of these two celebrations.
The Dinner
There will be music, entertainment, a Grand Raffle and Prizes at the December 12 Dinner. Since spaces are limited, you are asked to make your reservations by Monday, December 7. The Family Festival
On the 3rd night of Chanukah (Sunday, December 13), you are invited by the Jewish Community of Laval to a Chanukah Family Festival (also at Young Israel) which will include a Carnival with lots of booths and prizes (at 2:30 pm), a special guest star appearance (hot dogs and snacks will be sold), a Chanukah Challenge Game (4:00 pm), a Grand Menorah lighting ceremony (4:30 pm), a Grand Raffle, music, dancing, loot bags, latkes, and donuts.
The honoured dignitaries who have indicated their intentions to participate in ths family festival are Laval mayor Gilles Vaillancourt, Chomedey city councilor and Laval Executive Committee vice-president Basile Angelopouilos, Laval-les-Iles federal MP Raymonde Folco, and Chomedey MNA Guy Ouellette. Officiating at the ceremonies will be honoured rabbis Zalman Stiefel, David banon, and Moshe Nahon. For more information, please call 514 758-7700.
