A celestial voyage with the Star Keeper
Until the end May 2007, the Maison des arts de Laval invites the
young public, ages 3 to 14, and their families to share
in an unforgettable cultural outing. A varied, high-quality
program within any budget.
During the school break, the Maison des arts opens its doors to
children aged 5 to 10, offering a performance of The Star Keeper, a
Théâtre de l’Oeil production. With finely carved puppets, accompanied
by music that brilliantly highlights the poetry of the narration,
this voyage toward the Milky Way is an unforgettable journey into
imagination and beauty.
While illuminating the night sky, Pierrot makes a star fall. Pretzel,
noticing this, scoops it up right away; what adventures they
encounter while trying to replace it! His quest will push him to
climb a spider’s thread, cross the dormitory of dreams, dive into
the ocean in hot pursuit of the pearlfish and resist the bewitching
charms of the bubble tamer.
Playing on contrasts and inspired by cinematic techniques, André
Laliberté and a few of his closest collaborators demonstrate clever
ingenuity. This production, which has literally toured the world, is
the recipient of three Masques from the Académie québécoise du
théâtre, and is the winner of a Chalmers Award awarded by the
Ontario Arts Council for Canadian theatre for young audiences.
