Spring fever takes hold of some local high school students

The incident apparently was the continuation of something which began the day before, on March 27, near Laurier Senior High, also at lunch-hour.

According to Laval Police, on March 28, after morning classes had ended, three students of Laval Liberty were on their way to Carrefour Laval when they were met by a group of students from Laurier Senior High. About a dozen Laurier students followed the Laval Liberty students with tempers flaring on both sides. It appears that a dispute over girlfriends fueled the incident, with spring fever doing the rest.

Police reports indicate that during the altercation a Laval Liberty student suffered a minor facial injury near the eye as a result of an exchange of punches and kicks. Police intervened to calm everyone down. The injured teenager declined to press charges.

Mr. Glenn Cuggy, principal of Laurier Senior, stated that "The safety and security of students are always of the utmost importance in such situations."
